The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will convene the annual commemoration of the Nakba provides a moment for reflection and mobilization toward a just, lasting solution to the Question of Palestine in accordance with international law—one essential for peace and security for both Palestinians and Israelis. The commemorative event will be held on 15 May 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the ECOSOC Chamber at UN Headquarters, New York.

The event will revisit the historical context of the Nakba and the events of 1948 and examine the ongoing manifestations of dispossession and displacement. It will highlight how these developments have been experienced by the Palestinian people and implemented on the ground. Through this event, the Committee aims to help preserve Palestinian historical memory and share this narrative with Member States and the wider public, while emphasizing existing obligations and potential avenues for meaningful international action.
