Statement of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the 2025 International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Today, on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the Government of Pakistan stands with unwavering resolve and conviction with our brothers and sisters in Palestine. For decades, the Palestinian people have endured one of the most devastating tragedies of our time — denied their right to self-determination, their land stolen, and their peace destroyed. The world has witnessed the killing of more than 70,000 people in Gaza — children, women, and men who were caught in the relentless violence. Entire neighborhoods have been erased. Whole families have been wiped out. Homes, hospitals, schools, and the basic infrastructure essential for life have been reduced to rubble. Yet, despite this unimaginable suffering, the Palestinian people have remained resilient and steadfast — holding fast to hope, identity, and justice for their cause. Their courage is a testament to the indomitable human spirit. In light of these grave realities, there must be full and credible accountability for the war crimes and genocidal actions committed by Israel, in accordance with international law. Today, there exists a real opportunity in the form of the High-Level Conference on the Two State Solution and the Gaza Peace Plan. The ceasefire must be sustained. Israel must cease all violations and ensure unhindered humanitarian access. UNRWA must be fully enabled to resume its vital operations, without impediment or politicization. There must be a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces and Gaza must be rebuilt – the Palestinian people deserve peace and prosperity. Beyond Gaza, while the world condemns the relentless aggression there, we must not allow our attention to drift from the grave situation in the West Bank. The continued expansion of illegal settlements remains a blatant violation of international law and a major impediment to peace. It is a deliberate, calculated attempt to erode the two-state solution and must cease immediately. Pakistan remains firmly committed to a just, lasting, and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian question, based on the relevant UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, which remain fully valid. Pakistan reaffirms full support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, including right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. Today, and always, Pakistan reaffirms its solidarity with the Palestinian people. We stand by them — in their struggle, in their resilience, and in their rightful aspiration for freedom, dignity, and peace.
Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on the Occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People 2025.
