Message of Solidarity from the Government of the Republic of Namibia on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People 2025.

Government of the Republic of Namibia

On this International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Namibia stands united with the global community in reaffirming our unwavering support for the inalienable rights and legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian People as enshrined in international law and affirmed by numerous United Nations General Assembly and Security Council resolutions. This day serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring struggles faced by the Palestinian People in their quest for self-determination, dignity, and peace. It is also a solemn reaffirmation that achieving lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis remains our core objective and must continue to guide all our collective efforts. The plight of the Palestinian people has been marked by hardship and adversity for decades. We extend our heartfelt solidarity as they endure the effects of occupation, violence, and displacement. Their resilience in the face of such challenges inspires us all to continue advocating for justice and the recognition of their fundamental rights, in line with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter. Namibia welcomes the recently brokered ceasefire and exchange of prisoners between parties to the conflict in Gaza, and the release of hostages. This development marks a critical step toward de-escalation and the restoration of dialogue. The continued harm inflicted on civilians, and their infrastructure is a violation of international law, including international humanitarian law and the humanitarian crisis continues to demand urgent international attention. Namibia calls upon the international community to intensify efforts to deliver humanitarian aid, ensure access to essential services, and uphold the dignity and rights of the Palestinian population. Sustainable peace can only be achieved through inclusive dialogue, respect for international law, and the protection of civilian lives. Namibia believes that a lasting and just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is essential not only for the peace and stability of the region but also for the broader goal of global harmony. We reaffirm our commitment to the pursuit of a peaceful solution to the protracted conflict that has caused wanton destruction and resulted in the loss of many lives. As we commemorate the eight-decade-long history of the United Nations, we are reminded that the State of Palestine has yet to be granted full membership, an enduring gap in the realisation of the UN’s founding principles of universality, equality, and self-determination. 3 Namibia appreciates efforts undertaken during the course of this year to advance the two-state solution, most especially the High-Level Conference which culminated in several Member States recognizing the State of Palestine. As a global community, we must collectively uphold our responsibilities under international law by taking decisive measures to end the illegal Israeli settlement practices, permanently lift the blockade on Gaza, intensify humanitarian assistance, and ensure that the voices of the Palestinian people are fully heard and recognized. Namibia reaffirms its commitment to multilateralism and will continue to support all efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting resolution to the conflict, paving the way for a free and prosperous Palestinian state.
